Shabbaton to the Poconos

Writer: Rabbi Ephraim LernerRabbi Ephraim Lerner

A Memorable Shabbaton in the Poconos

This past Shabbos the bachurim gathered for an unforgettable Shabbaton in the scenic Poconos, filled with inspiring moments of learning, farbrangens and skiing. The Shabbaton was graciously hosted by Rabbi Sandler at his camp CGI of the Poconos, and organized by our very own Rabbi Giesinsky.

Chef Chaim Volfman, along with a dedicated team of bochurim, worked tirelessly to ensure that the meals were amazing. From delicious shabbos meals to chaim’s famous #Shabbatonbreakfast on Sunday morning, Chaim made sure that nothing was lacking!

Throughout Shabbos,Rabbi Sandler farbrenged with the bachurim. One line that particularly resonated was: “If you know aleph, teach aleph; if you don’t know aleph, hire someone to teach aleph.” This piece of advice reminded everyone of the importance of both learning and sharing Yiddishkiet and Chassidus with others.

On Motzei Shabbos, the bochurim traveled to Goshen, where they enjoyed a Melaveh Malkeh with Zalmy Eisenberg and Rabbi Borenstien. The farbrengen was filled with uplifting words of Torah, and the group was treated to a delicious Milchig Melaveh Malkeh, making for a memorable conclusion to their Shabbos.

Sunday was the perfect reward for the bochurim's dedication to learning Mamarim Baal Peh over the many Shabbosim leading up to the Shabbaton. As a token of appreciation for their hard work, they spent the day skiing!

On their return journey to Pittsburgh, the bochurim stopped in Kingston, where they were graciously hosted by the Hershkop family.

We would like to extend a tremendous thank you to all those who made this Shabbaton possible!
